Meet the Team
Shiv Misra - Co-Founder
Founder of the ever popular vegan supermarket Kindly of Brighton, Shiv’s next venture into sustainable business was partnering with Co-Founder Ram to bring Roots & Hoots to life. “I looked around my house one day and saw the vast amount of single-use plastic that could be avoided,” explained Shiv. “It hit me that we have to change our lifestyles if we are to do something about the environment. We hope Roots & Hoots can play a part in encouraging more people to think twice about how their purchases affect the planet.”
Ram Krishnan - Co-Founder
Tech guru Ram brings a wealth of knowledge to Roots & Hoots, as he also runs a pioneering startup that innovates food waste recycling systems. Passionate about the plastic pollution issue, Ram wanted to provide a grocery option for everyone interested in moving towards plastic-free and zero-waste living. This came to fruition partnering with Shiv in 2020 on Roots & Hoots, and as they say, the rest is history. You’ll usually find Ram getting stuck in with the developers, ensuring the Roots & Hoots website is in tip top shape.

Layla Brook - Ecommerce Manager
Working at Roots & Hoots is a dream job for Layla. Having worked in digital & ecommerce for a number of global brands over the years, she wanted to move away from big business and work for a company more in line with her own ethics and values. As a vegan Layla cares about animals, humans and the environment in equal parts, and feels privileged to work for a startup that is actively making moves to protect our planet. If she’s not working on our website or helping customers, you might find Layla sampling new products for Roots & Hoots. It’s a hard job but someone’s gotta do it...
